Me And Tired's Afternoon Out-- Blog 20

When we got back from Special Olympics me and Denae decided to start a game of Uno. Tired and Sorry didn't want to play so they sat out and drew. I got everyone seated and started dealing when Yoosh asked Tired who was going to take her to ride her bike. When he asked that less than a second later she replied "I want (my full name) to take me to ride my bike." It was so cute, I was so surprised so I was just like "Okay!"
First we stopped and got waters but the machines weren't working yet so we went through this whole ordeal of trying every machine for drinks, loosing twenty five cents, but finally getting some water. We even had to sneak into one of my past classes to get some emergency Dr. Pepper for me because I was legitimately about to pass out.
We finally made it to the other EC classroom that had the bikes in it and we got Tired strapped in and we were ready to go! Before we got down the hallway I made her lay out a plan for our walk/ride so we werent just wandering aimlessly. Our plan was two laps around the 300 circle, two around the 400 circle, and then a big lap around the school outside. During the whole ride she did exactly what our plan was without me even telling her. On our bike ride we went and stopped by my teacher cadet teacher, who Tired loves to go visit, and we also stopped and talked to other teachers walking down the hall. It was so funny, when we were outside there was a van in the circle and there was a girl sitting in the trunk. Tired looked at the girl and was like "why is that girl sitting in the back of that car?" I had no clue why, so I was like "You should ask her!" She did and the girl told her, but what amazed me was how observant she was. She would notice everything! There was a gym class walking by, ROTC people on the soccer field, art people painting outside, carpentry people building some building, and so many other things but she noticed all of them and say something about them before I would even see them.
When we were getting drinks Yoosh had given me this vitamin box filled with change so I saw the perfect "life skills" lesson. We were standing by the drink machine and I dumped change into my hand and told her that we needed a dollar out of that change. As she would put change in, she would say what it was and I would tell her how much more she needed. She would get it right everytime, with a little assistance. But either way, it was a pretty cool improv mini lesson.
At the end of the day, between Special Olympics and our like mile walk, I was pooped. On the elevator ride up I told Tired how happy I was that she chose me, and she smiled and said "Your welcome!" It was a great day and a lot of great bonding moments between me and all the kids!
