Little Kids Make Me Laugh-- Blog 13
Today I was in the art room but I wasn't with the class that I am normally with. The schedule was all messed up because of exams so I was with a class that I don't really know that well. I went in and the class had just started and Art Lady needed me to find magazines with nature scenes for her next class so I did. Once I got done with all of that I started to walk around, look at their pictures, and talk to the kids. They are a really interesting class. They are pretty calm, very sweet, and stayed on task pretty well. They had a few autistic kids (as all the elementary classes do), but it wasn't obvious which ones did and which didn't. I went over to a table and there was a little boy that was drawing really intensely. His picture had a island with people on it so I asked who they were. One was him, and the other girl in the picture was the girl sitting beside him at the table. After that I was standing there for a little while he stopped drawing and looked up at me. He said "Would you like me to draw you in my picture too?". That was probably one of the sweetest things I had ever heard. I smiled and said "Of course!", he smiled and got back to his drawing. I went and told Art Lady what had just happened and she told me that he was the sweetest boy ever and he had really unnoticeable autism. Usually autistic kids keep to themselves and sometimes have troubles letting people in, but it was the exact opposite with this little boy and I just thought that was so amazing. So yes, little kids do make me smile.
