Other than what the titles about, today was a pretty regular day. I went in and started working with Mama on finding random words on her little machine thing. Gma wasnt here today so it was only me, Lowa, and Kate working with the girls. Smiles mom did come in to talk to Yoosh though, that was a little intense. Pretty much he wasntetting much academic stimulation so Yoosh increased it, and him not being a creature of change.. didnt like it. But his mom came in and talked to Yoosh and I'm pretty sure they reached a happy medium. Smile gets less, but still enough, work but gets a "cool off spot" for him to go to when he gets overwhelmed to collect his thoughts. I never really noticed but the whole classroom has cool off spots for pretty much all the kids, all the kids that need it. All the desks are seperated so everyone has room, theres a meltdown room, some kids have their desks in the kitchen, things like that. And all the desks are seperated except the back table which consists of a few kids that float from our class to regular classes, or just rarely have time outs. Well, Darling sits there, but he still has his own desk to sit at. And something thats really funny is that if you try to sit in one of the kids spots they will get a little irritated, because to them that is their spot. Their spot to go to when they work, need to cool off, think, almost everything. And if you try to get a kid to sit in someone elses desk, they will get a little frazzled. But back to the title!
So since Gma wasnt here, me and Kate were left with the pleasure of "Bathroom Duty". Oh joy. Well, little Mama (being the lady that she is.. not) spends a great deal of her time in the bathroom. And almost all of the kids have a really hard time "cleaing up" when their done using the restroom, so we have to help them. Lets just say that from the end of B lunch untill 2 o'clock, I spend all but 5 minutes in the bathroom with her. Yes it was very funny at times, but quite nasty at others. Kate kept saying "This is going to be our life, Rachael." Its a little scary, but very true. People who work with the handicapped population are rewarded so much, but they deal with a lot of less fun things in between. But the thing that I have to do to keep myself positive is thinking about how much these little kids are impacting my life, and how much I hope to impact theirs.
Your humility is just one of the many things I love about you.
